The Richibucto
Estuary is the second largest coastal plain watershed located in Southeastern
New Brunswick. The entire area of the watershed exceeds 1400 km (sq).
The general
shape of the drainage basin is rectangular. It covers 1088 km (sq) and
the average elevation is 45.5 m above sea level (Montreal Engineering
Company, 1969). The shallow bay is fed mostly by three rivers: the Main
Richibucto River, the St. Charles River and the St. Nicholas River.
Other smaller tributaries also feed the harbour or the Northwest Branch.
